Folks are attempting different paths to immortality, including diet and controlled starvation, which I have written about before - basically don't try it. The other possibilities are interesting. Also, we have some insight into the sort of folks who make use of Alcor's cryogenic service (head freezing ala Ted Williams). Best line: cryonicists aren't crazy, they're just really great, sexy optimists.
- An interesting anthropological take on what the proper diet is for humans is up over at Scientific American. After many many words of analysis (often very insightful) we come to the conclusion: The challenge our modern societies now face is balancing the calories we consume with the calories we burn. Sorry guys, you get a big, fat, high-protein "Duh!" I explained this a while back.
- As we learned before, fiction is the proper way to uncover human consciousness. Now we learn it's the best way to teach Economics.
